Thank you for your interest in our vacancy for a Chief Executive. 

Trafford is a thriving, prosperous and culturally vibrant Borough at the heart of the Manchester City region.  It is celebrated as the industrial capital of Manchester and hosts the largest industrial park in Europe.

This is an exciting role at a critical time. Trafford will shortly be showcased to the world as it plays host to matches in the Olympic Football competition, leaving behind a cultural and sporting legacy to be built upon.

Our Chief Executive will need some of the attributes of sporting champions; highly motivated, committed and determined and goal-orientated, to name a few.  You will lead the organisation forward to meet the many challenges and opportunities ahead, with vision and passion and clear strategic direction.

There are some key challenges ahead, not least the financial backdrop in which we now operate; we need to continue the implementation of the Council's Transformation programme within the context of declining budgets and increasing expectations of our local communities and drive forward a programme of regeneration, business engagement and economic growth.

We are in an excellent position to manage these challenges and pride ourselves on being a value for money council, delivering the very best services for all of our customers, residents and businesses.

We want you to demonstrate that you can operate successfully in a complex political environment and can work closely with Members to identify strategic goals and long-term direction. You must have a clear understanding of how to successfully implement change and be able to build strong relationships with Members, staff, partners and key stakeholders. The ability to inspire and support staff through a time of change will be crucial, along with your enthusiasm, determination, vision and ‘can do' attitude, which will be key to both your success and the continued success of the Council.

You must be prepared to challenge existing practices, inspire, motivate and empower employees and our partners, promoting a creative culture to ensure we are able to deliver excellence for all.
