About the Council

Trafford Council employs around 8,000 staff, both full and part time and serves a population of around 210,000. The council has a net revenue budget of around £155,395m (2012/13), which is £6.3m (3.9%) reduction on the previous year.

The council has a leader and member structure with 63 elected councillors representing 21 wards. Below are the election results:

  • Conservative Party : 34 seats
  • Labour Party: 25 seats
  • Liberal Democrats: 4 seats
